HSGA Virtual Festival

The First HSGA Virtual Festival

October 28, 2020 • Teri GormanFestivals and Conventions

The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association is excited to announce that we are planning our first Virtual Festival for the weekend of January 23-24, 2021. The format will be similar to our live festivals, including member and guest performances, a workshop, and featuring master Hawaiian steel guitar player Geri Valdriz and The Kika Kila Band.

The Virtual Festival will be pre-recorded and available through the HSGA website (hsga.org), our Facebook page, and Youtube. Viewers will be able to pause or leave and return to the program at any time.

If you are a Hawaiian steel guitar player and would like to perform, please visit our website for more complete details at the association's website. Performances can be up to 15 minutes in length. Non-HSGA members and professional players may also submit for consideration. As time allows, we will include as many performances as possible.

The deadline for submitting applications and videos has been extended to November 30, 2020. Information for uploading videos has also been revised by the HSGA and appears as a separate article.

This should be a fun way to enjoy and share our music in an adapted way! There is no fee for viewing, though we are asking a suggested donation of $25. Non-members may choose instead to join the HSGA ($30 annual fee) instead of making a donation.

The virtual festival is open to the public. It is also the HSGA's goal to recruit new members to by extending an invitation to a broader audience, so please feel free to share this with others.

Thank you for your support and participation.

Ed. note: Teri Gorman is a Director for the HSGA. Information presented here is an updated version of similar information presented in a previous article.
