Here is the latest news about HIMELE's steel guitar festivals and events.
Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Ka Makana Ali‘i
The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Ka Makana Ali‘i, originally scheduled for February 7, has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The event was rescheduled due to the predicted severe weather including heavy rains and high winds that was expected to heavily impact the outdoor performance. HIMELE and the center both agreed that postponing the festival would be in the best interest of festival guests.
The original performer lineup has been revised to accommodate Mālie Lyman and Nā Kūpuna o Ko‘olau who will not able to participate due to prior commitments.
Replacing those artists are veteran steel guiarists Paul Kim and Devin Nakahara. The lineup now includes Alan Akaka, Steve Cheney, Bobby Ingano, Paul Kim, Devin Nakahara, and Greg Sardinha and Po‘okela. NextGEN steel guitarists Hi‘ipoi Lindsey, Thang Nguyen, Ever Ta‘ala, and Isaac Woodward will also perform at the festival.
The festival will be livestreamed on the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Showcase's Facebook Page and YouTube Channel.
