The Friday evening public kanikapila for the 2025 Hawai‘i Island Steel Guitar Experience will be held offsite at the Queens' Marketplace in Waikoloa Village. The kanikapila venue is a short ten-minute drive from the Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection, home of the 2025 Mauna Lani Steel Guitar Experience.

The kanipila will be held offsite to accommodate competing events at the Mauna Lani. The competing events also required the time of Friday's ho'olaulea concert to be held earlier in the day.
Queens' Marketplace features over 35 charming shops, premier retailers & restaurants including the largest food court on the Kohala coast. The kanikapila will be held in the Marketplace's central Coronation Pavilion from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Marketplace will provide seating and limited power.

The public kanikapila will feature several festival steel guitarists and musicians, including Alan Akaka, Ethan Goore, Bobby Ingano, Mālie Lyman, Geronimo "Geri" Valdriz, and NextGEN steel guitarists Isaac, Hi‘ipoi, and Charlie, along with festival musicians David Woodward and Kaipo Lindsey. Festival guests and the community are encouraged to participate, playing along with festival musicians or experiencing Hawaiian entertainment at its finest.
Hands-on opportunites will also be available for guests who want to learn more about the Hawaiian steel guitar or try out the instrument.
