Hawaiian Steel Guitar Showcase

October's Livestream Steel Guitar Saturday

October 23, 2020 • Addison ChingFestivals and Conventions

The October, 2020, Livestream Steel Guitar Saturday will be broadcast on Saturday, October 24, beginning at 3 PM, Hawaiian Standard Time. For Japanese guests, that translates to 10 AM Sunday, October 25, Japan Standard Time.

This livestream broadcast is a presentation of the Showcase that was originally scheduled for August and postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions. The Showcase will feature steel guitarists Jeff Au Hoy and Bobby Ingano. Prerecorded performances by NextGen steel guitarists will also be included in the broadcast.

As with previous Showcases, the performance of each featured artist will be preceded by a Zoom interview conducted by a NextGen steel guitarist. These interviews are designed to present information about that artist's background and musical inspiration.

The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Showcase is an ongoing series of monthly livestreamed steel guitar performances by popular Hawaiian steel guitar masters and offered as an alternative to live steel guitar festivals which have been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. HIMELE supports the safety and well-being of its staff, musicians and guests, and hopes to resume the festivals as soon as guidance allows for large assemblies and it is safe to do so.

Virtual tip jars are available for anyone wanting to contribute towards the support of the Showcases.

As with the festivals, all Showcases are free and open to the public. Showcase performances are archived on the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Showcase Facebook page for on-demand viewing.
