Paul Tutmarc of Seattle, Washington was a pioneer steel guitarist and music teacher. In 1934 he created the Audiovox Manufacturing Company, selling electric guitars, bass, lap steels and amplifiers.
Tutmarc's lap steels earned a solid reputation by players for having a powerful, clean tone. Among them was steel guitar king Sol Ho'opi'i!
The Model 436 is tear drop shaped and is made of black walnut wood. The blade pickup is powered by a large horseshoe magnet located just under the chrome pickguard.
