Santo Farina Is Still Alive

June 10, 2016 • Addison ChingEntertainment

Recent postings on Social Media outlets incorrectly reported the passing of steel guitarist Santo Farina, of the Santo and Johnny ("Sleepwalk" and " Teardrop" fame.) The reports began from a misinterpreted post from Johnny Farina's cousin, stating that their cousin Santo had passed. Further investigation revealed that the Santo Farina that passed was born in 1939, whereas Santo Farina of Santo and Johnny was actually born in 1937 (source: imdb.)

A Google search turned up a voter registration record for Santo Joseph Farina, born in 1939, who resided in The Villages, Florida. The fact that their cousin had the same name as the steel guitar player confused most into thinking that the steel guitarist himself had passed away. Once this was discovered, many postings were retracted, citing the misunderstanding and emphasizing that the steel guitarist is indeed still alive although his whereabouts are currently unknown.
